Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has donated a dialysis machine worth N10 million to the University College Hospital, Ibadan; and promised to add two more before the year ends.
This was revealed at the end of the 62nd Founder’s Day of UCH, which was marked in Ibadan last Monday.
Accompanied by Prof. Abiodun Otegbayo, the Chief Medical Director of UCH and other members of management, Adeboye stated that he made the donation in view of the critical roles that kidney plays in the life of every human being.
Reminiscing about the past, he said going abroad for treatment was not a common phenomenon while he was growing up as a child.
“People didn’t think of going abroad for their treatment when we were young, they believed once you come to UCH, they would be healed,” he said.
He rejoiced with the kidney patients at UCH and empathised with their situation; declaring his resolve to do more to ease their challenges.
“I rejoice with you that we have already had one on ground and we will have another two by the end of this year. I promised to do more because kidney is vital to human existence looking at the challenges people living with kidney problems are facing”.
The CMD who showed appreciation on behalf of UCH urged well-to-do and generous Nigerians to donate towards the development of the hospital.
Noting that paucity of funds is one the challenges causing setbacks to the institution, Otegbayo stated “we have been able to raise a team of influential Nigerians to be on Board of Trustees that will help improve services and facilities in the hospital, and yet we must meet the yearnings of our teeming patients.”
