Bamidele Salam, a lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo federal constituency of Osun State in the National Assembly, has offered automatic employment to four persons with disabilities.
Announcing this at a luncheon he hosted in honour of persons with disabilities in his constituency, Salam said the beneficiaries who are to work as staff in his constituency office, are important part of the society; and deserved to be properly taken care of by government and private citizens.
The lawmaker who disclosed that the luncheon was held in their honour to thank God for granting him the grace to serve the people at the National Assembly, also pledged to kick off programmes to encourage skills acquisition and create job opportunities for less-privileged in his constituency.
Mr Olanrewaju Oladosu, the Coordinator for Association of Persons with Disability in Ede Zone, who responded on behalf of his colleagues, commended the lawmaker; stating that Salam was the first to offer employment to persons with disability in 2008 while he served as Local Government Chairman.
Oladosu prayed for his success at the National Assembly.
The programme also featured presentation of gifts to persons with disability from the four local governments in the constituency.
