Nurudeen Inuwa Aminu has graduated with a record-breaking first class honours in Geology from the Modibbo Adama University of Technology – MAUTECH, Yola, Adamawa State.
Aminu has with his academic feat broken a 30-year record of being the first student to finish with the highest class of degree since the department of geology was established during the 1989/90 academic session at MAUTECH.
The department which took off under the School of Environmental Sciences has since been moved to the School of Physical Sciences.
Meanwhile, Dr. MD Aminu who shared the news in a tweet advised that the MAUTECH scholar should pursue a doctorate degree in the United States.
The tweet shared via his handle @mdaminu, read: “Nurudeen Inuwa Aminu graduates with a record-breaking first class honours degree in geology from the Modibbo Adama University of Technology. Prior to Nurudeen, no one ever got a first class degree in the department.
“I advise him to strongly pursue a doctorate in a university in the United States. I am confident that Nurudeen will be a model student in a top US graduate program. He will enrich the graduate program, and he will in turn be enriched by the program.
“It is my hope that he goes to the United States as soon as possible.”
It is not uncommon to see bright students from Nigeria and other nations admitted into US universities to pursue doctorate programs without master’s degrees.
