A Community Development Service (CDS) group of NYSC members in Kano has donated no fewer than 1300 exercise books to ten secondary schools in Gwale Local Government, Kano State.
The CDS group, ICPC/NAVC, made the donations as part of its efforts to contribute to the development of students in schools within the community.
According to Yunusa Abubakar aka Marafa, the former President of the CDS, the donations were ways of touching the lives of the common man; especially students who are lacking in writing materials.
Students who benefitted from the kind gesture include those of FCE Staff School, Kano; GGC (WTC) Kofar Fanfo; Government Secondary School, Gwale; Junior Government Secondary School, Ja’en; Government Girls Secondary School, Sabon Gida.
Others were: Government Girls Secondary School, Dorayi Babban; Kabuga Primary School; Dandago Primary School; Maitasa Primary School, Gwale; and Waya Voluntary School, Kano.
The students who were engaged in few questions to know if they were aware of corruption and related issues, giving full meanings of acronyms like ICPC, NYSC, noted that they were elated with the group’s kind support.
Some of the executive members of the group who coordinated the donation activities included Fauziya Isa Bature, vice president; Gimba Abdullahi, general secretary; Adam Jibril Jibril, public relations officer; among others.
